Meet Zen and Zora

One of the things that makes our office unique is that you are likely to encounter one or both of our therapy cats if you meet with one of our therapists for in-person sessions. Zen and Zora are both beloved members of our work team and of the Trost family (they travel to and from work in their cat backpacks). The cats play an important role in helping our clients feel comfortable and supported.

Zen is a 3-year-old grey tabby cat who has been with us since we opened our doors in 2022. He is a self-proclaimed “boundary coach” and is known for letting you know when he doesn’t like something. But don’t let that fool you – Zen is also very loving and affectionate. He loves to greet clients in the hallway and curl up on the end of the sofa near them during sessions. He’s inquisitive and curious, can hold a conversation (often in the form of trills) quite well.

Zora is a 1 year old calico/tortico. She is Zen’s best friend and they do just about everything together. Zora loves snuggles, being held like a baby, and is very sweet. If given the opportunity, she will climb into a client’s lap. She is still learning how to be a therapy cat, and when the ‘zoomies’ take over, or she can’t make up her mind if she wants in our out, we usually put her in the other room, but she is already a natural at making people feel loved and cared for.

Both Zen and Zora are available to clients during sessions, if they wish. Some clients find that having a cat in the room helps them to feel more relaxed and comfortable. Others enjoy the companionship and unconditional love that Zen and Zora offer.

If you are interested in having Zen or Zora join your session, please let your therapist know. They are always happy to see new faces!
