All of our staff, including our associate and intern therapists, are trained and in and recieve structured training in complex trauma, social anxiety, anxiety and depression and long-standing mental health patterns, including foundational education, ongoing supervision, and case consultation.

Working with an Intern Therapist or LPC-Associate

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially when you’re also trying to find something that fits your schedule and your budget.

At Solace Counseling and Coaching, we offer reduced-fee therapy with both graduate interns and LPC-Associates, making high-quality counseling more accessible for clients in Sugar Land, Southwest Houston, and across Texas.

Working with a Graduate Intern

Graduate interns are master’s-level counseling students who are in the final stage of their training.

They have:

• completed a four-year bachelor’s degree

• advanced coursework in counseling theory and techniques

• hands-on clinical training with real clients

• ongoing supervision from a Licensed Professional Counselor

This stage of training is similar to a medical residency: interns are actively practicing while receiving close guidance and feedback.

Because of this structure, you are not working with someone unsupported. You are working with a clinician who is:

• actively learning and refining their skills

• closely supervised

• highly invested in their clients

Intern therapists often bring a high level of attentiveness, care, and intention to their work. Many clients also appreciate the increased flexibility in scheduling, including more availability for evenings and weekends.

Therapy with interns is currently:
$85 per session

*We also offer a limited number of reduced fee spots of $50/session based on financial need. 

Working with an LPC-Associate

LPC-Associates are post-graduate counselors who have completed their master’s degree and passed the national licensing exam.

Before becoming fully licensed, they complete:

• over 700 hours of clinical experience during graduate school

• an additional 3,000 hours of supervised counseling work

During this time, they continue to receive supervision from a fully licensed clinician, which means you benefit from both:

• your therapist’s direct experience and training

• the added perspective and support of their supervisor

LPC-Associates are highly trained, actively practicing clinicians who are continuing to deepen their experience and specialization.

Therapy with a LPC-Associate is currently:
$125 per session
