Jenny Kang is a graduate counseling practicum student from Houston Christian University supervised by Mary Amanda Trost, M.Ed, LPC. Jenny strives to bring a multicultural, multidimensional, and mindful approach to helping those with concerns about mental health, relationships, communication, and identity. Honoring and supporting the client are her top priorities.

Originally, a graduate medical student, she offers a unique input into mental health care in collaboration with biological and clinical knowledge. She offers specialized mental health care for health care workers, first responders, and other medical professionals.

Additionally, Jenny has extensive experience working with youth in after-school programs, where she led and designed curriculum-focused activities—an experience that deepened her understanding of child and adolescent development and informs her supportive, creative approach to counseling. Clients of all ages, cultural backgrounds, religious beliefs, and political standings are welcome.

Counseling with Jenny encompasses sincerity, non-judgment, and empathy where the client is the leader and controller of each counseling session while Jenny offers support, guidance, and care. Jenny encourages clients to tell their story freely and wholeheartedly. She desires to offer a space of comfort, safety, and compassion by adjusting the counseling meeting space and atmosphere to the client’s preferences. Jenny specializes in mental health hardships, like depression and anxiety, stress and time management, spiritual and religious matters, and conflict resolution. Establishing real, honest, and professional counselor-client relationships lasting as long as desired and needed by the client are Jenny’s goals as an aspiring counselor. Jenny understands that life can be difficult, unfair, and dark; however, hope remains, so please reach out via phone or email if you are interested in counseling.
