Meet Cassidy
Hi there! I’m Cassidy Macygin, a Clinical Mental Health Counseling intern from Midwestern State University, under the supervision of Mary Amanda Trost, M.Ed., LPC.
Many of the ways we learn to cope develop early in life as a way to protect ourselves. While these strategies once served an important purpose, they can sometimes create challenges as we grow and move through new stages of life. In therapy, I help clients understand these patterns with compassion, build self-awareness, and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. This often includes learning how to care for and support yourself in new ways, strengthening emotional regulation, and better understanding how early experiences may still be showing up today.
Before entering the counseling field, I spent over ten years in leadership and professional roles, where I developed strong skills in empathy, active listening, and cross-cultural communication, which I bring into every session. Outside of the therapy room, I’m a proud dog mom who loves cozy games, jigsaw puzzles and stand-up comedy, and you’ll often find me listening to podcasts about personal growth, holistic healing, and pet wellness. If this resonates with you, I would be honored to walk alongside you in your healing and growth.
